About Me

Madison...

Madison...
In July 2009 our lives were blessed with the most
wonderful gift ever! We adopted our sweet little Madison. She is full of energy
and keeps us on our toes. She has a smile that will melt your heart and knows
just how to work her mommy and daddy. Madi brings so much joy and happiness into
our lives and we cherish every moments we have with her!

Easton...

Easton...
On April 20, 2011 our sweet little Easton joined our family. We are so grateful
for the blessings of adoption and the amazing woman that has helped to bring our
family here. We are so excited to have a little guy around the house and look
forward to watching him grow.

Cordon's Blessing...

After Scheel's we hurried to Chris and Annie's for the blessing of Cordon.  His Grandpa Tracy blessed him.  He looked so handsome!
The proud parents...
Cordon with both of his Grandmas.  Love these pictures...

Scheels...

We had a long, busy day the day of the funeral.  After the graveside and luncheon, we headed off to check out Scheels.  Pretty sure it is better than Dick's and Cabella's.  I loved it!  They have something for everyone.  We only had about an hour so we walked around and then took a few pictures.  Super fun idea to have the "photo op" area.  Easton thought this bear was awesome!  Look how big it is!
Totally intrigued...
I love how he is cuddling up to it.  He thought it was so soft.
Love this of my two kiddos!
 Caitlyn, Brenton, Madi & Whitney...
Easton wanted in on this action...
Whitney thought the skunks were fun.  Madi and Easton both liked that they could hold them.  We had to pretty much pry it out of Easton's hands. :D
It was about that time that Madi thought it would be fun to disappear.  She thinks it is fun to hide from us in stores.  Then, when we find her, she giggles and runs to hide somewhere else.  I have tried EVERYTHING aside from beating the girl to get her to understand how scary and dangerous that is.  My heart sinks and I am usually close to tears when we find her.  I have always hated the leashes for kids but I am starting to think that she may be getting one for Christmas.  Any suggestions?
My little Easton as we finished up.  I want to get some good pictures to update of my kids and keep waiting for Easton's bruises and scrapes on his head to go away.  I am starting to think that it may be a perma-bruise and I am just going to have to take them with it.  His big head always hits the ground first!  He's still pretty dang cute though. :D

The Funeral...

My Grandma's funeral was on Oct. 11, 2012.  It was fabulous!  I got a few pictures while we were waiting for everyone to say their last goodbyes.  Here is my little family.  Don't my kids looked absolutely thrilled to be there? :D
My mom, me and my Madi...
The hottest guy EVER!!!
Nicholas and his family drove through the night and got there a few hours before the funeral.  This is his youngest, Brenton.  Isn't he adorable?!  He is the spitting image of his daddy at that age!
Auntie Tiffy playing with Brenton, Caitlyn and Whitney.  I love this picture!
Little miss Ava...

The Silver Lining...

The silver lining of events like a funeral... FAMILY!  My mom came from TX and my two brothers and their families came from WA.  The weather was great, so on Oct. 10, Daniel, Erin and their kids came with us to the zoo.  It was so fun for Madi and Easton to be with Ava, Parker and Colson.  Madi LOVES to play with her cousins and for DAYS after they went home, she kept asking when her "friends" were coming back.  Hopefully soon! :D
Parker, Madi & Easton...

The whole clan: Easton, Colson, Madi, Ava & Parker...
Pretty much impossible to get all five of them looking and smiling at the same time. :D
Madi hitched a ride when she got all tuckered out.
And of course we had to ride the carousel.

Grandma Lowder...

On October 6, 2012 my Great Grandma Lowder passed away at the age of 87.  I thought I would share a few pictures of her in recent years and a few memories.  This is when I introduced my pretty princess to her.  She was thrilled for me!  She made Madi a quilt, one of the legacy's she has left her posterity.
Look at the two of them.  I can't believe Madi used to be that little.  She is drowning in a newborn outfit.  So precious...
Do you have a group of women that you look up to?  These are the three that I do, my mom, her mom, and my grandma's mom.  You will never meet three women that are harder workers or more talent or are more spiritual than these three women. They all have such amazing traits and talents and if I can be half the woman that they are, I would be happy with that. This is at Madi's blessing, just after she was sealed to us.
I feel very blessed that my grandma Lowder was able to come to the sealings of both my kids.  This is at Easton's sealing.
My Grandma Lowder lived on a farm in Wilder, ID.  We would stop there every time we came to Utah.  (I lived in Oregon from three or four years old until I was sixteen)  It didn't matter what time of day or night we got there, we always had a bed to sleep in and a hot meal on the table.  Grandma was a good cook and it was always a big meal, a turkey or a ham.  Yum!
One of my favorite things to do at Grandma's was play outside.  She lived next door to a John Deere tractor place.  She had an old camper that attached to a truck that she let the grand kids play in.  She had a garden we could help her with, a canal that ran by her house and fields we could go see horses and cows.  I remember watching home videos and playing Atari with Sam and Marissa.
Grandma was very thrifty and would shop the garage sales frequently.  She would send stuff to us and in her packages she always sent popcorn balls.  Grandma made quilts for everyone in her life.  She made dozens and dozens.  I was lucky enough to get three and Madi got one.  I love her quilts, so warm and cozy.  I would write Grandma letters and she always wrote me back.  I love that she would display pictures of her many kids, grand kids and great grand kids throughout her home.  She was a generous woman that gave freely of things that she had.  I remember going to church with her.
After we moved to Utah, I continued to visit her with Amy and Autumn and stayed there when I went to visit Seth's family.  I remember one night Grandma came in when I was reading my scriptures and shared her testimony of the Gospel and told me how proud she was of me.  I remember her perfectly, the layout, the colors.  I love the way she made you feel so welcome, even Derrick felt welcome there.  She had such a sweet laugh and said some of the funniest things.  I will miss my Grandma Lowder very much and am glad that I was able to know her and have her example in my life.
(I left my camera in Lehi, so all the funeral pictures and posts will have to come later, but I have a few funnies that I have to add so I don't forget.)

***Chris made a comment about wanting a five generation picture.  Then he thought for a moment and said "I guess I still could if it's open casket."  We laughed until it hurt and then Mom said "Well let's just dig up her mom and make it a six generation picture!"  It was too funny!
***This was Madi's first funeral to be at.  During the viewing she asked to see Grandma Lowder.  She asked if she could talk and and I said no and then Madi said "Well shut it then" referring to the caskets lid.
***One of the other kids there asked where her legs were and was told they were under the other lid.  They looked at their parent and and asked "Why did they cut off her legs?"
***Someone made a genealogy wheel that was very cool.  One of the best parts was when my 16 year old cousin Jace realized that as per the chart, he was dead.

I know there were some other funny comments and things said but I can't remember them all right now.  It was a beautiful service and a great way to honor my Grandma.  I enjoyed seeing family and especially two of my besties, Amy and Autumn.  I'll miss you Grandma!

Battle of the Sexes...

Derrick and I LOVE to play games.  It doesn't really matter what kind of game it is, we like to play them.  We go through phases and play a game almost every night.  I have seen Battle of the Sexes at the store and thought it sounded fun.  We generally only buy games that can be played with two players.  I love having a lot of friends and family over and hosting a game night or something of that sort, but Derrick is more reserved and generally prefers one on one time with me. (Not that I'm complaining about that because I can't get enough of him! :D)
Anyhow, one of my friends introduced me to Houseparty.com. It's this cool website that picks people to host a party to promote an item.  I have applied for several but the only one I have been selected for is this one.  I was stoked!  It was a perfect one since we love games and have so many awesome friends.  The hardest part was knowing our house wouldn't hold everyone we wanted to invite, so we limited it to 15 couples and said if it was fun, we would do it again.   We had ten couples come and it was SOOOO fun!  We made meatball subs and had everyone bring a snack or treat of their choice.  We had some really yummy food but the favorite was Sarah's cheese/jalapeno dip.  YUM!
Since my brothers and their families were here for the funeral they came too.  This is Christina and Holly, two of my sisters-in-law.  It was so fun to see them and visit with them all.  Nicholas and Daniel and their families live in WA state, so we enjoy their visits no matter the occasion!
Some of our party people!  We had so much fun (at least I did) and SOOO many laughs!  It is something we will for sure be doing again in the near future.  I embarrassed myself more than once, and our friends got to see how incredibly competitive my family is, especially me and Nicholas (we are 13 months apart and the oldest two kids in the family, Nicholas being the oldest). I got to see how Erin has transformed my brother into a very metro-sexual man that gets mani's and pedi's and knows things about layettes and doily's.  I learned that Jeff was not as shy as I thought and how seriously funny he is as he sails in his Wellington boots.  I learned that a good portion of the guy questions are about wars and historical facts and the women's questions were SUPER easy.  I learned the way a man would put on a bikini vs. a woman.  I learned how completely insync a couple can be as they act out a lay-up in unison and so much more!
The men rocked the game and rubbed it in good.  They enjoyed their sweet victory over their wives, but no worries, there will be a rematch and Daniel will not be coming. :D
And here is the sad losers... the women.
It was such a fun game and I am so glad I was picked to host that party.  We had a great time and will be playing it again soon!

Welcome to the world Cordon Edward...

On September 28, 2012, I was given the opportunity to witness one of the most amazing things that happen in life, the birth of a baby.  My sweet sister-in-law and my brother welcomed little Cordon into their family and they gave me the privilege of being a part of their miracle.
Their day began early, like just after mid-night.  I joined them around 8:30, just as Annie received her epidural and poticyn.  Annie labored and just as she reached a ten and felt ready to push, she started throwing up which dropped Cordon's heart beat.  They rushed (literally) her to the OR for an emergency c-section.  It was a scary few minutes as we waited for the doctor.  Here is my brother all ready to go see his little guy come into the world.  You can see the worry on his face.  He held it together well!
In an even rarer privilege, I got to watch the c-section.  It was AMAZING!  I took pictures of the procedure for Chris and Annie but I am only posting this one out of respect for Annie.  You can see his arms and chest as he lay on her legs seconds after he was delivered.
This is the nurse they had, Ashley, warming him in the nursery.  She was so sweet.
Cordon was born at 6:27 pm and he weighed 9 lbs. 6 oz. and was 22" long.  He was definitely ready to come out!
Since Annie labored and was stuck at a five for so long, he had a serious cone head, about 5 cm around. :D
Cordon's first bath...

Isn't he adorable!?!  I love his little O.  He is so long and so sweet!
This is Annie's mom, Karen.  She was there with us too.  She is such a great lady.  She makes everyone feel welcome and wanted.
Cordon has the longest eyelashes I have ever seen on a baby, and some serious eyebrows.  They are so bushy.  I don't remember my babies having eye lashes when they were born.  He is just like a little doll!
And this is the proud papa, my brother, Christopher.
(I am not posting pictures of Annie with him but maybe when I have their video done, with Annie's permission, I may share. Maybe.)
Congratulations to both of you!  You are going to be wonderful parents and he is absolutely perfect.  Thank you for letting me part of this special day.  I love you guys!
