About Me

Madison...

Madison...
In July 2009 our lives were blessed with the most
wonderful gift ever! We adopted our sweet little Madison. She is full of energy
and keeps us on our toes. She has a smile that will melt your heart and knows
just how to work her mommy and daddy. Madi brings so much joy and happiness into
our lives and we cherish every moments we have with her!

Easton...

Easton...
On April 20, 2011 our sweet little Easton joined our family. We are so grateful
for the blessings of adoption and the amazing woman that has helped to bring our
family here. We are so excited to have a little guy around the house and look
forward to watching him grow.

Twirl... 4.29.2013

Madi is an all out princess.  She LOVES skirts and dresses and LOVES to spin around and see them twirl.  We have had complete melt downs because I put something on her that didn't twirl to her satisfaction.  So, a couple weeks ago I grabbed an old shirt and a sheet ad made her a dress that really twirls!  She loves it and wants to wear it all the time.  (although it isn't one I let her wear out of the house.  It twirls, but it's just not that cute) She tells me thank you and I get big hugs when I wash it too. :D

Nielson Grove Park... 4.27.2013

Kirsten, one of my long time BFF's, was in Provo for her brother's graduation.  Since we had planned on driving down Sunday for Grandma and Grandpa Gurney's mission farewell, we went the day before and were able to meet up with her and her family at a park in Orem.  I should have taken more pictures with her cute kids and her and I but we got talking and couldn't stop!  Here are a few of the kids playing while we waited for them to get there...
My big boy thinks he can do everything the big kids do. :D
And most of the time he is pretty good at it.
Madi played on the swings for a bit and then wanted to sit at the pond and see the ducks.
It was so fun to see Kirsten and catch up on each others lives and our hubbys were FABULOUS and took care of the kids while we talked.  I got t meet her kids, SILs and nieces (ADORABLE!!!)  Hope I can see them again soon! ♥

First time this year... 4.24.2013

Both my kids love the water and they both love the trampoline.  It's no wonder they LOVE to put them together and have the sprinkler under the trampoline.  I love the movement in the pictures!

My E Baby...

My precious little guy is a two year old.  He is no longer my baby and I am realizing it more and more each day.  He is growing up so fast and changes everyday.  Here are some of his favorites and some of the things I love that he does...
Favorite Color: green and blue is a close second
Favorite Movie: Cars 1 & 2, Toy Story 1, 2 &3 and Wreck It Ralph (the last one has been banned)
Favorite Book: Creepy Monster, Sleepy Monster
Favorite Animal: lion but he really loves all animals
Favorite Thing to Do: watch movies, playing in water, playing outside (especially in the dirt), play with cars, blocks and games, ANYTHING Madi does and take bubble baths
Favorite Treat: "paaah thycl" translation... popsicle
Favorite Food: "bed, choc" translation... bread with Nutella
Least Favorite Thing: being away from mom  (he has to know where I am at all times and is only ok to be without me on his terms, that means he cries when I leave him in nursery, not for long though)
Easton LOVES his Cars vitamins and reminds me every morning that he NEEDS them.
Some of MY favorite things that he does:
The new Disney movies start with a page to pick the language.  It dings when it comes up.  Easton "dings" with it.
The way he says "I don't know".  To him it is one word and it is so cute the way he says it.
If I roar at him he giggles and says "cary" translation... scary
He adds a "TH" to the beginning of his "yea" so it sounds like "thea"
During the THX part of movies he does the "aaaaaaahh" along with the movie
If you tell him no he clinches both fists and states his demands louder (one of the reasons Wreck It Ralph has been banned) or else he will say "thair" translation... share
He LOVES LOVES LOVES to play games, especially animal Sequence.  He gets it out multiple times a day and you are his hero if you will play it with him.
He has an obsession with his hair.  If the wind blows the slightest or he feels a drop of rain he covers his head and says "haiw, thide" translation... hair, inside
He will only wear his hat backwards.
He likes to pick his clothes and shoes and he LOVES "plip plops" translation... flip flops
He tells me when he wants to go to the bathroom in the toilet but I have no desire to potty train him yet.
He LOVES to hear the jets from HAFB fly over and will stop what he is doing, point up, yell "plane" and run to the window to look for them.
I am sure there is so many other things but this is all I can think of at the moment.   I love my little E baby and love that he is healthy and growing.  I love to hear him and Madi play and be friends.  It is bittersweet to watch them grow up.  I love each new stage and I miss each we leave behind.

Happy Birthday Little Man...

On April 20th Easton had his 2nd birthday.  We LOVE living close to mom and dad Hawkins so that we can share special occasions with them.  (All the rest of Derrick's family live out of state and we don't get to see them nearly enough.) Anyhow, one of their family traditions is to go to lunch to celebrate holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. For Easton's birthday we went to Garcia's, one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. They put a big sombrero on you and sing a birthday song while presenting you with fried ice cream.
Easton DID NOT like the hat! He wouldn't leave it on to even get a good picture.
He was quick to forgive when they set the ice cream down though.
After lunch we went back to mom and dad's so Easton could open his present.  {We decided that since we would be in Disneyland for Madi's birthday that we would make their big gift this year and just do something really small the day of.  Since then we have decided to be responsible adults [YUCK! :P] and wait to go to Disneyland and put the money toward Easton's medical bills.  No worries, he didn't get jipped, just got his big present later.}
He picked out his present a few days before but he was still super excited when he opened it.  Madi was too!
He picked a Toy Story book that came with a play mat and 12 figurines.  He is starting to get really into Toy Story.
He carried it with him all day!  Here he is looking at it just before we had cake and ice cream.  Andrew and Holly came up to celebrate with us.  Chris and Annie mailed him a card that had a Cars stamp on it.  He LOVED it.  Derrick tore it off the envelope and saved it for him.  He stuck it on the fridge.  Easton was playing with it a couple days later and left it on the floor, upside down.  Later that day I was sweeping and Easton started freaking out! I had no idea why he was so upset.  He ran to my pile and grabbed what I thought was a torn corner of a paper which was actually his Cars stamp.  Silly kid will hang onto that forever!
Back to his birthday... We had cake and ice cream and kept things pretty low key this year.  It was fun to celebrate Easton.  He is such a blessing to us!
Derrick was so amazing and picked up Easton's favorite plates and napkins, Cars.
Easton couldn't decide whether he wanted McQueen, Mater, Finn or Francesco.
He finally picked Francesco.
It was a great day!  I can't believe my little baby is two! ***tear***

The Castle Park.. 4.13.2013

One of the most fun parks I remember from when I was younger is Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove, UT.  That is too far away to just go to the park but there is a fun little castle park in Fruit Heights that is similar.  Derrick and I took the kids there and they had a blast running, climbing, swinging, sliding and playing.  First thing they both want to do is swing but as soon as they are done Madi seeks out a "friend" and plays with them until it is time to go.  I love that about her.
Easton made a few friends too.  Their was a group of four or five boys and girls about the age of ten.  They saw him and said "High five".  When Easton did it they thought he was the coolest kid ever!  Easton ate up the attention.
They have a big red seat swing there that I think is so fun.  There used to be a couple but this time there was only one.  The kids waited their turn and loved swinging in it.
Easton is fearless.  I love that but he also makes me nervous sometimes.  He thinks he can do ANYTHING that the big kids do.   Here he is trying to walk across a chain.  At least this time he picked a challenge close to the ground. :D
